TASS launches Chinese news feed – Society & Culture


MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. Russian news agency TASS is launching its Chinese language news feed TASS Chinese News Service on Feb. 1, the Corporate Communications Department reported.

The information service will broadcast at least 90 messages per day: breaking news, interviews, expert opinions, biographies and factboxes. Later, the newswire will post summaries of the day’s main stories and press reviews.

Key topics of China’s TASS news service will be foreign and domestic policy, current developments in the Commonwealth of Independent States, economy and finance, science and space, security and development of the military and industrial complex, society, culture and sports.

According to TASS Director General Sergey Mikhailov, the launch of the Chinese-language news feed is a long-awaited and important event for the agency. “Symbolically, we announce the launch of the Chinese news service TASS on February 1, marking the Chinese New Year. It will be a great gift for the huge Chinese-speaking audience. Russia and China maintain strategic partnership relations. Our cooperation has been actively developing in all spheres, including in the media space,” Mikhailov said. “We attach great importance to covering the development of bilateral relations within the framework of international structures: the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the BRICS, the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as joint projects in the economic, defense and humanitarian. All of these issues and more will definitely be reflected in this news thread,” Mikhailov explained.

The Chinese news service TASS will publish information on weekdays from 07:00 to 21:00 (Moscow time).

Subscribers to China’s TASS news service will discover the views of key speakers on relevant issues in the international arena, economy and public life, and will be updated on economic forecasts and expert assessments.

Particular attention is paid to Russian-Chinese cooperation, Russian contacts with countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, Latin America, Africa and the United States.

A specially trained Chinese office for foreign subscribers will be responsible for this, said TASS Deputy Director General, Editor-in-Chief Mikhail Petrov. The team includes both correspondents and translators, who are native Chinese speakers.

Users will be able to access the TASS Chinese news service for free in the TASS News Terminal, which offers more than 60 TASS products in various formats, including news in English, Spanish, French, Chinese and Russian, as well as previews of his photo and video content.

TASS Chinese News Service is the third foreign language news feed launched by TASS in the past year. In 2021, news in Spanish and French became available to agency subscribers.
