Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamese and Lao academics discussed the role of
culture and people to the process of renewal and development of the two countries during a seminar on December 27.

The hybrid event was co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Laos National Academy of Politics and Public Administration, National Institute of Sciences economic and social issues of Laos.

Addressing the seminar, Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, underlined the important role of culture and people in the comprehensive partnership, solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Culture must be placed on an equal footing with economy, politics and social affairs, Thang said, adding that cultural and human development must go in harmony with economic and social growth.

He suggested the two countries encourage comprehensive education and training reforms to keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the process of international integration. He also urged the two countries to cooperate with each other to promote comprehensive human development, with emphasis on inspiring young people to nationalism and educating them as responsible citizens.

Vietnam and Laos should also join forces to preserve cultural heritages and accelerate technological innovation, and share their experiences and practices for living with COVID-19, he said. /.
