Nobel laureate to be keynote speaker at Skretting’s AquaVision conference

Nutreco-owned animal feed giant Skretting announced on Tuesday that Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz will be the keynote speaker at its June 13-15 AquaVision event.

Stiglitz will tackle the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, rising commodity costs, inflation and rising interest rates.

Skretting CEO Therese Log Bergjord said IntraFish that the group chose to invite Stiglitz for his overview of the global economy.

“At a time when we see significant challenges from the COVID pandemic, political unrest and a contested supply chain, it will be interesting to gain insight into these issues from an expert,” Bergjord said.

“I hope his contribution leaves the audience a little wiser.”

In 2001, Stiglitz was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics. Additionally, he was a lead author of the 1995 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.

He was Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank from 1997 to 2000.

This year’s event is the 14th edition of AquaVision, and the first in-person since 2018. The conference, organized by Skretting and Nutreco since 1996, takes place every two years.
