Marian Catholic FBLA Attends Leadership Conference



The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) from Marian Catholic High School recently participated in the 2021 FBLA Regional Leadership Conference.

Tanother six of our fifty-seven members attended. Members choose from a variety of events that require taking an objective test at our home school the week before the actual event or performing in front of in-person judges. All members were invited to participate in whatever competition was chosen and nineteen attended the University of Susquehanna on December 17th. The day started with all the regional schools hosted by the leaders of the University of Susquehanna, Basil Holobetz and Patrick McCabe, and was followed by the keynote speaker of this year’s conference, Dr. Matt Rousu, dean of the Sigmund Weis School of Business and Professor of Economics at the University of Susquehanna. The subject was “Learning Economics and Business Using Music, Movies and TV”. This was followed by two workshops. The first, led by Dr. Mike Ozlanski, Associate Professor of Accounting at Susquehanna University, “Cash: Never Leave Home Without It! Wondered if it is better to do without cash and only use credit cards. The second, led by Dr. Jadrian Wooten, Associate Professor of Economics at Penn State University, “Understanding Economics through Love of Sport” linked sport to economics while teaching the principles of economics. .

Communication; team of Angelo Greek and Lachlan Segedy, Graphic Design, 2nd place; Delaney Erickson, Introductory Business Presentation, 2nd place; Elizabeth Burket, Introduction to Public Speaking; Jarielys Nunez, Introductory presentation to the company; Joseph Walko, Sales Presentation; Julia Meiss, Introduction to Public Speaking; Maura Kelly, Impromptu speaking, 2nd; and Olivia Erickson, public speaking, 1st place. Bella Lesante and Emily Eroh also participated in a PA FBLA State-only event, a public service announcement and are awaiting the results of that submission. All of the above-mentioned winners are now eligible to attend the PA FBLA State Conference in Hershey, PA, April 2022.
