Austin Peay State University School of Commerce, students attending regional conference


Clarksville, TN – In April, faculty and students from the College of Business at Austin Peay State University (APSU) traveled to Destin, Florida to attend the Society of Business, Industry, and Economics Academic Conference ( SOBIA).

The annual event, hosted by the University of North Alabama, brought together universities to promote peer-reviewed research and student research at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Representatives from more than 40 universities from 17 states attended the event. According to the organization’s website, “SOBIE was founded in 1999 by Dr. Jim Couch and Dr. Doug Barrett, both of the University of North Alabama with approximately 30 participants from 5 schools. SOBIE quickly grew to become the premier academic conference for smaller regional universities, attracting attendees from many research universities, corporations and government agencies.
